| | | I am a retired teacher, painting contractor, landlord, etc., who has explored many avenues through the years. About five years ago I realized I had always wanted to draw and paint ever since I had coloring books as a child. Why wait any longer? I started taking Monday classes offered by the Dewitt Parks & Recreation Department. Since then I have dabbled in watercolors, acrylics, pencils, ink, colored pencils, scratchboard, and pastels. I have enjoyed all of these mediums. I enjoy the challenge of pushing myself to always try something new. By doing this, I am always learning and growing. Each year I see the improvement I have made over previous work. I also see how much more there is to learn. I belong to the Bradford Art Guild in the Syracuse area and the Central New York Watercolor Society. I am very grateful that the Cultural Council of Cortland County has allowed me to participate in the 2008 Arts Trail. I do not consider myself an artist yet, as I am constantly humbled by the fantastic work of so may others who are true artists. On the other hand, I am also inspired and instructed by what they do, and strive to raise myself to their level. |
