| | | Andrea Wilkinson received a BFA degree with a
concentration in painting from the School
of Art and Design at Alfred University in 1996. Her work spans a wide variety of influences
and media. Much of her earlier work, done while attending college, is abstract
in nature, while her work of recent years is on the other side of the spectrum:
tightly rendered and bordering on Photo-Realism. The main reason for this
switch was Andrea’s love of nature - exotic flowers in particular - and her
desire to portray them in all their vibrant detail. Besides rendering natural
subjects in colored pencils, graphite pencils or oils, Andrea also specializes
in house portraits, which she does on commission using photographs for
reference, and she creates these portraits in colored pencil or pen and ink in
rich detail. In addition to her artwork, Andrea works full time as a Display
Advertising Representative at the Cortland Standard newspaper. Her artwork can
